A Philadelphia coin silver tea service by Edward Lownes

A fine neo-classic ‘coin’ silver four piece tea service by the noted Philadelphia silversmith Edward Lownes (1792-1834); hallmarked for 1818; wonderfully chased spout and lions mask handles.  Lownes is represented in every major American museum featuring decorative arts.  Reference American Silver at Winterthur, by Ian M.G.
